Business can be like fat burning, it isn’t necessarily intuitive.

I recently had a metabolic test and have begun working with a personal trainer at the local YMCA. I have been surprised by what I have learned. At first it seemed so contrary to what I would have thought.

I learned that to burn fat I needed to exercise at a level when my body had more oxygen available. Then I was put on a program to gradually increase my exercise and increase my metabolism. Who would have thought?

Life and business aren’t always so easy to figure out. I am finding it helpful to have a guide (trainer) to work with me as I venture into territory outside my area of expertise.

That’s such an interesting way of looking at things, and I definitely agree with you! It’s good for people to be able to admit that they don’t have all the answers, and it’s OK for them to branch out and learn from others.

I see you posted this back January. How is your fitness plan going? Congrats for venturing in to the (sometimes counterintuitive) world of exercise. It is SO important RNs work to stay fit - the physical demands of shift work make it impossible to neglect at least moderate exercise. The amount of RNs who are forced to leave the profession due to on-the-job back injuries is terrible.

If there is anything I can help with, please let me know! I am a Certified Personal Trainer who owns a small but growing Nurse staffing agency in NJ. My company is focused on building stamina, energy and core strength in our Nurses, which ultimately helps them avoid injury and maintain focus during long 12 hour shifts.
